For several years I’ve had a random traffic cone sitting on the side of my house. Finally, I found a way to put it to good use! If you keep reading I promise you will see more exciting photos!
I have two little ones, ages 2 and 8 months. Life is messy. I love happy messes. Not crusted, mysterious gross substances under the table (yuck!), but I don’t mind scattered toys that have been enjoyed throughout the morning. I’m grateful that with prompting songs about how amazing (***hiding some sarcasm) cleanup time is, my two year old will ***sometimes*** consider it fun to be my little cleanup helper.
With two tiny ones, I was considering how to display and enjoy our Christmas tree without stress. Let’s be honest, broken ornaments and babies covered in glitter under the tree with tangle lights in their tiny fingers etc etc would NOT be a happy mess!
How it began
My babies were napping and I snuck out on Black Friday to JoAnn Fabrics. I’m not one for crowds, but it’s hard to resist amazing deals. I’ve learned that afternoon BF shopping isn’t crazy (and I was beelining to JoAnn’s and back to home.) My neighbor and her adorable little one tagged along. She was so happy to “hold” all my fabrics…70% off! Yahoo!
I stumbled upon the felt by the yard section and found glitter felt in a forest green color. It reminded me of a sparkly Christmas tree. And that’s how the project all began!
I love this project because it is quick and you can make the ornaments appeal to your own taste. I added a 9 3/4 ornament to represent Harry Potter, for example. So much fun! Happy crafting friends!
